Andrew started playing the bagpipes at the age of 5 and since then has dedicated much of his life to the instrument and its music.
After passing an audition for the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, he went on be part of the band featured on the live album 'Illumination' as well as playing at the memorial service for Alexander MacQueen at St Paul's Cathedral in London.
As a soloist, Andrew has been succesful in competitions with various prizes in the 'C' grade competion structure in Scotland, as well as being the winner of the Falkirk Tryst Competition in 2010. He is currently receiving tuition from Finlay MacDonald and Glenn Brown.
Andrew has played in grade one for a total of five years, with the Lothian & Borders Police Pipe Band and the Torphichen & Bathgate Pipe Band. The latter were crowned Grade Two British Champions in 2014.
Andrew currently holds a BA in Scottish Music and is working away at completing his honours year at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. One day a week is spent as piping tutor and Pipe Major at James Gillespie's High School in Edinburgh and other projects include tutoring the Torphichen & Bathgate Novice Juvenile Pipe Band.
